~ SUPPORTING YOU THROUGH GROWTH, HEALING AND RESILIENCE ~
Welcome! Here at Healing Centered Counseling we are passionate about walking with you on your healing journey. We believe effective therapy centers around establishing a healing relationship, self empowerment and inspiring hope. Our approach to therapy is one that infuses compassion, threads of wisdom, humor, non-judgement, creativity and skill.
'Therapy' originated from from the Greek therapeia meaning ‘attendance’: To listen means to attend closely to what is being revealed. A skilled therapist will walk beside you rather than directing, giving advice or problem-solving. I want you to feel heard, witnessed, validated and transformed through this experience.
The opportunity in having a safe and non-judgemental space to explore thoughts, feelings, boundaries, fantasies, fears and desires, and the curiosity to explore this in the presence of a skilled clinician can be cathartic in and of itself.
Since 1996 I have been providing direct care in a variety of settings to children, adolescents and adults. I am an Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. My experience includes but is not limited to: individual, group, and family therapy, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment, residential care, dual diagnosis, substance abuse, respite care, case management and client advocacy. I also have experience in mentoring, consultation, marketing and outreach.
I approach our work together as healing centered, integrative, weaving experiential approaches, psychodynamic, attachment and object relations, strengths based, EMDR, IFS, DBT, CBT, mindfulness and Hakomi method.
The diversity of my experiences has allowed me to become a seasoned and skilled professional with a depth of wisdom, informed perspective and creative approach.

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with abuse, painful and traumatic circumstances as well as the effects of generational trauma. Anxiety, fear, guilt, shame, self doubt, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events.
We help people raised in dysfunctional and abusive homes to work through their traumas and feel more happiness, confidence, and inner peace.
Entering a new phase of life can be deeply disorienting, disrupt your sense of self, and cause painful emotional upheaval. Life events such as becoming a parent, divorce, retirement, entering middle age, being diagnosed with an illness, becoming an empty-nester and becoming an elder caregiver are experiences that many people commonly struggle to deal with.
We recognize the impact major life changes can have, and we offer a supportive and safe space where you can process your experiences and restore emotional harmony and healing.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives.
Through counseling and treatment, we help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, addiction, and performance enhancement. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date, EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.
"What fires together wires together" meaning the emotions and event(s) are tied together in the brain.
The amount of time the complete treatment will take depends upon the history of the client. Complete treatment of the targets involves a three pronged protocol:
1-past memories, 2-present disturbance, 3-future actions. This approach helps to alleviate the symptoms and address the complete clinical picture.
The goal of EMDR therapy is to leave you with more resolved emotions, increased insight, and new perspectives that will contribute to improved quality of life and relationship to self and others'.

LGBTQIA+ counseling provides a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for individuals to explore their unique experiences, challenges, and identities. Whether you're navigating issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, relationships, or the impact of societal pressures, our therapists offer compassionate support tailored to your specific needs. We understand the importance of creating an environment where you can feel heard, valued, and understood without fear of judgment. Together, we can work on areas such as self-acceptance, mental health, and building resilience, helping you thrive authentically in all aspects of your life.
Are you a professional who works in an intense, demanding and high stress career field? Do you at times feel hopeless, exhausted (even after long periods of rest), find yourself unable to unwind and relax, feel irritable and impatient with those you are caring for, lack joy or life satisfaction, and frequently catch colds or have low immunity? Do you find yourself having intrusive thoughts, avoiding people, places and conversations, disrupted sleep or increased need for sleep? These are issues that commonly impact any professional who "cares" for others.
Let us help you heal by learning or reestablishing self care practices through emotion centered interventions.
